Introduction

My name is Heather. I am in the online MAT program at Western Oregon University, in which computer science education classes like this one are a requirement. I have a bachelors degree in cultural/linguistic anthropology. In the ten years since graduating I have been working in schools and finally decided to go back to school to be a social studies teacher for 6th through 12th grades. I live in the coast range on a small organic farm that my husband and I have been basically homesteading for the last ten years. My husband is also in school to be an agricultural science teacher and we have a 4 year old daughter. In the past we focused our farm on produce production. We are currently learning to raise our own animals.
I am hoping to learn more about blogging and how to create a blog. I would like to find ways to incorporate different technology tools into the classroom. So far I have thought of a "living" journal in a blog form for my future students to use.

  1. It is so logical that a student in a Blogging in Education class would want to learn how to use blogs in education, and I am so happy to be a part of that process. There's something common between us as we too live in the coastal range, or on the edge, but I'm afraid that our small acreage is a hobby and that we have jobs to feed our faces.

Check in on my blog and then link to the blogs of your classmates to see what they already have to say about the use of blogs in education and society. The blog address is http://digitalinklings.blogspot.com .
